The Newcomers' Club, established in April 1929, existed to acquaint women (faculty, staff, and wives) with each other who were on the Penn State campus less than two years. Former members, Newcomers' Alumnae, formed the Faculty Women's Club in 1949 to continue the social activities and to promote good fellowship among its members, to furnish members with opportunities for mutually beneficial association, and to further the interests of the university. The Newcomer's Club became a subsidiary, unitil 1973 when they merged. The organization changed its name in 1993 when it admitted Penn State alumna, faculty, and faculty wives.
