After the shooting of college students at Kent State University in May 1970 and the subsequent student protests at Harvard and other colleges and universities, concerned employees of the Harvard University Library formed the War and Political Information Center. Volunteers staffed a desk in Widener Library to collect and disseminate infor on the Vietnam War for the benefit of the community. The Center was disbanded in August 1970.
