Burt, George, 1929-2015

Burt studied composition at the University of California, Berkeley, at the Mills College and the Princeton University. His teachers were Milton Babbitt, Andrew Imbrie, Darius Milhaud, Leon Kirchner and Roger Sessions as György Ligeti in Vienna. He worked as a composition teacher on Smith College, at the University of Michigan and at the Rice University. In 1997 he moved to Los Angeles.
