Crawford, Medorem, 1844-
Variant namesMedorem Crawford, Jr. (1844-1921) was a member of one of Oregon's early pioneer families. His distinguished career in the United States Army included participation in the expedition dispatched in 1868 to establish a U.S. military post on Alaska's Cook Inlet. That expedition nearly ended in disaster with the sinking of its vessel "Torrent" off Dangerous Cape, but returned in 1869 to build Fort Kenay at present-day Kenai, Alaska.
