Physician and first mayor of Nashville, Ark.

Dr. David A. Hutchinson was a prominent physician in Howard County, Ala., for more than fifty years. He was born 27 Dec. 1848 in Dadeville, Ala., but lived in Georgia during his early childhood. Following the Civil War the Hutchinson family moved to Columbia County, Ark. Graduating from Tulane University in 1872 with a degree in medicine, Hutchinson first practiced in Union County and later at Hope in Hempstead County before moving to Nashville in 1876. He practiced medicine until the early 1930s when his age forced his retirement. Active in public affairs, he was the first mayor of Nashville and also served as a director of the city school district. He died on 27 May 1934.
