Arthur L. Koch was a United States (US) military officer who enlisted in 1898. He served with the 1st and 20th Infantry in the US, Cuba, and the Philippines from 1898-1902. For the next three years he was in the coast artillery in Cuba and at Fort Washington. He served with the engineers in the Philippines, Fort Mason, Honolulu and Washington for the next five years. From 1910 to 1917 he was a post commissary and quartermaster sergeant at Washington Barracks, San Francisco Depot, Camp Wilhelm, Manila Depot, Fort Mills, Benicia Arsenal, Fort Worth, El Paso, and Douglas, Arizona. He was commissioned a captain in World War I (WWI) was on duty at Camps Sherman, Hancock, Beauregard, Lee and Fort Leavenworth. Remaining an officer after the war, he saw service at Chicago Depot, the Presidio, Forts Mason and Jay, Camp Stotsenburg, and Manila Depot. He was attached to the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1929-1934 and retired in 1938 after serving at III Corps Area. He was recalled in 1940 and was placed on duty in the office of the Chief of Chemical Warfare and at San Francisco Depot. He finally retired from the military in 1943.
