Hide Profile

The Trisolini Gallery (TG) was established on April 20, 1974 to house the growing art collections of Ohio University (OU) and to commemorate the teachings and life of Fine Arts Dean Anthony G. Trisolini, who died in 1972. Under the supervision of his successor, Henry H. Lin, the TG's mission was to "educate by re-affirming and challenging cultural and aesthetic expectation." The primary goal of the TG is to "actualize a series of quality exhibitions that are timely." A group of volunteers was needed to achieve these tasks. The Friends of Trisolini Gallery of Ohio University (FTGOU) was established in September 1975. This group of volunteers were brought together to make it possible for the TG to be open regular daily hours, to provide docents, to inform the members about the work exhibited, and to run a retail shop for local artisans and artists. The FTGOU has grown and developed throughout the existence of the TG. The FTGOU are trying to advance the art awareness and culture for the Athens community. OU provides the space and utilities to the FTGOU and the FTGOU's volunteer group provides the dedication and time to the TG and shop. The FTGOU continue to develop with the art community and OU.
