Connor, Henry, 1780-1840
Henry Connor was born in Ohio in 1780; was taken captive with his parents by British near Sandusky, Ohio, 1782 ; they formed a settlement near Mt. Clemens. He learned Native American languages and was Indian subagent for the U.S. government; was with Gen. Cass at making of the first treaty with the Native Americans at Fond du Lac. He was member of the Legislative council, 1826-27 and 1828-29. He died in 1840. He was supervisor of highways in Hamtramck, 1818. (from Mich. Biogs. ; Mich. Pio. Henry Connor was born in 1780 in Ohio and died in 1840 in Detroit (Mich.). He was a member of the Michigan Legislative Council, 1826-1827 and 1828-1829, and a township supervisor in 1818. Connor's Creek, north of Detroit, is named for him. For further information on Henry see Michigan biographies pp. 192-193. Richard H. Connor, born July 26, 1814 in Grosse Point (Mich.) served at various times as a township supervisor and justice of the peace. In 1849 he served as Sergeant-at-arms of the Michigan House of Representative in Lansing. He was a Representative for Wayne County, 1859-1860.
