Biographical note: Pioneer banking family; William Brophy arrived in Cochise County in 1881 and was general manager of the Copper Queen Consolidated Mercantile Company, founded the Bank of Bisbee and Bank of Douglas, and mining, property, and other interests. His son, Frank Cullen Brophy inherited his business interests, controlled the Bank of Douglas, and was involved in ranching, mining, and political activism.
