Bradsher (1879-1974) was an author and a professor of American and comparative literature at LSU from 1921 to 1949. A graduate of the University of Missouri, he received his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1911. He taught at the University of Missouri, the University of Illinois, Dartmouth College, and the University of Texas before joining the faculty at LSU. His dissertation, "Mathew Carey: A Study in American Literature," was published by Columbia in 1912 and reprinted by AMS Press in 1966. His publications include a contribution to the Cambridge History of American Literature, four volumes of poetry, and articles in the North American Review and the Sewanee Review.
