Hand (born December 3, 1811 in Albany, NY) graduated from Williams College in 1831. He entered Princeton Theological Seminary from which he graduated in 1837 and was licensed as a minister by the Presbytery of New Brunswick, NJ. He was appointed to several churches in Georgia, Florida, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. He received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Lafayette College in 1857. He served on the Board of Trustees for Lafayette College from 1859 to 1880. Hand died on March 3, 1880 in Easton, PA.
