Counted among his songwriting credits are some of the most popular songs in country music history, including "I Can't Stop Loving You," "Oh Lonesome Me," and "Sweet Dreams." His recordings for RCA during the late 1950s and 1960s led to a string of hits, including "Blue, Blue Day," and "Sea of Heartbreak." Member, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Member, Country Music Hall of Fame.
