Bellefonte Central Railroad
The Bellefonte Central short line railroad began in 1886 as the Buffalo Run, Bellefonte, and Bald Eagle Railroad, provided transportation for Centre County industries, iron manufacturing, limestone production, and lumbering. It was reorganized as the Bellefonte Central in 1892. After 1920, passenger service and coal transportation to Pennsylvania State University slowed the decline of the railroad, which closed in 1984.
