John C. Dinou was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1922. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and was placed in the U.S. Army Air Forces 344th Bomb Group, 496th Bomb Squadron in August of 1944 after graduating flight school. As a combat pilot, he ultimately reached the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. In April of 1990, he spearheaded the creation of the B-26 Marauder group, Marauder Men of the Metroplex headquartered in Texas. The organization helped bring attention to the B-26 Marauder's actions during World War II, most prominently through the use of Living History Programs. This program invited Marauder men to area schools in order to share their World War II experiences to students. John C. Dinou passed away in 2006.
