Grand Body of the Sisters of Charity.
The Grand Body of the Sisters of Charity was organized in 1876 in Indiana to aid migrant African Americans who settled in the state after the Civil War. In 1911 the organization opened a hospital in Indianapolis. Beginning in the 1920s, membership declined so that by 1980 the organization consolidated into a single lodge.
