Variant namesThe First Montana Volunteer Regiment was formed to take part in the Spanish American War. The unit was mustered in at Helena, Montana on May 5-10, 1898, leaving the U.S. for service in the Philippines on July 18, 1898, and arriving in Manila, Philippine Islands on August 24, 1898.
