The Center headed the State of Michigan's migrant education programs, 1969-1973. It was funded by the state and had CMU employees. Center staff provided summer educational sessions at school districts with large migrant populations for children and adults, including day care, pre-kindergarten, and K-12 grades. They created and developed study guides, manuals and curriculum for teachers who would teach migrants. The Center was discontinued in 1973 when the funding stopped. The State of Mich., Dept. of Educaiton, Migrant Education Dept. became responsible in 1973 for migrant education, but does not do the same, in-depth work, particularly curriculum development, that the Center did.
