The International Public Relations Committee of the NFTC was established in 1959 to make recommendations concerning influencing foreign opinion of American business in general and in response to specific general and local issues, to gather and disseminate information on international public relations, and to engage with the domestic and foreign press and with public relations specialists. In 1962 the committee was reorganized as the Public Relations Committee [PRC] and its responsibilities were enlarged to include public relations activities on behalf of the NFTC itself, including the promotion of Council positions and policies through the domestic media and the development of educational programs promoting American free-enterprise.
