Fred A. Thomson joined Ford Motor Company on September 10, 1918 as an accountant in the Disbursement Department at Highland Park. He started going to law school at night and graduated from the Detroit College of Law in 1922, when he was admitted to the bar. While at Highland Park he was put in charge of accounts receivable and in 1926 he was appointed assistant to the corporate secretary to look after legal points on corporation matters. He was named assistant secretary in 1941 and in August 1947 was appointed corporate secretary to succeed Harvey E. Schluchter. Thompson retired from Ford Motor Company in 1954.
