Hide Profile

While the Monthly Meeting of New York, also known as Flushing until 1795, was well established by 1682, the date of its first organization is unknown. A large brick meeting house at Queen Street (now Pearl) in Manhattan, now was completed in 1776. It was built on land purchased in 1774 on the southeast side of the street, above Cherry. The preparative meeting of New York, later of the Eastern District, was held there until 1824 when it moved to Rose Street Meeting house. The Queen Street structure was demolished in 1824 and replaced by commercial buildings.
