Newtown Preparative Meeting was established in 1817 by Bucks Quarterly Meeting under Wrightstown Monthly Meeting. It was transferred to Makefield Monthly Meeting in 1820. In 1827, at the time of the Hicksite Separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, Newtown Preparative Meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. The Orthodox branch merged with the Orthodox branch of Makefield Preparative Meeting to form Makefield and Newtown Preparative Meeting. This meeting was discontinued later in 1827. Newtown Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) became part of Newtown Monthly Meeting in 1926. It was merged into the monthly meeting in 1940.
