Clemson University. Dept. of News Services.
Hide Profile
The Department of News Services was formed as part of the Office of University Relations beginning in 1985. Prior to that date, the Clemson office that handled media relations was first known as the News Bureau, which was established in 1933 with Joe Sherman as its first head. In 1976, the name was changed to the Clemson University Information Office and in 1983 to the Office of Information and Public Services. Over the years, the scope of the office's activities varied to some degree although it primarily served as the liaison with the media for the University. Although the news releases primarily reflect this liaison with newspapers, the Office also worked with radio and television.
