SAGE is a coalition of professionals in social service and gerontology and concerned members of the gay and lesbian community who came together in 1977 to meet the needs of the elderly lesbians or gay men not provided for by traditional social and voluntary agencies through mobilizing the available resources of gay men and lesbians. Doug Kimmel was a co-founder and served as secretary (1979-80) and co-chair of the Board (1980-81).
