Lively, J. W.

Hide Profile

Little is known of the author of this diary, a Methodist minister and itinerant preacher who gives his name on the title page as J. W. Lively M.D. Although the initials he places after his name would indicate that he was a physician, he does not seem to have been a practicing physician during the period covered by this journal. Lively was apparently born in Arkansas, moving later to Texas (he records in his diary a visit to both states while on one of his circuit preaching journeys).
