Island Railroad Company (Buffalo, N.Y.).
The company, incorporated in 1883, owned commercial real estate on Lake Erie. GN acquired it in 1887 and built a grain terminal on the property, which was used by the vessels of the Northern Steamship Company, another GN subsidiary, as the distant terminus of its Great Lakes route. The company was sold to the Mutual Elevator Company (owned by a consortium of eastern railroads) in 1903.
