James B. Bailey was the General Manager and Treasurer of the Central Iron and Steel Company in Harrisburg, Pa., and the President of Pine Forge Iron Works in Pine Forge, Berks County, Pa., from 1902 to 1912. He was born in Pottstown, Pa., on July 5th, 1869, the third son of Charles Lukens Bailey, a prominent iron nail manufacturer and Harrisburg banker. As a youth, Bailey attended private academies, graduating from the Hill School in 1886. Later the same year, he entered Yale College, graduating in 1889. After leaving Yale, he began to work for his father in the iron business. In 1899, he became President of his father's company. Before the age of forty, Bailey was the general manager of a steel company, the president of an iron company, and a director of a manufacturing firm. In his later years, he became an investor, working in Philadelphia.
