Walter Price (1676-1731), a merchant and soldier of Salem, Mass., graduated from Harvard in 1695 and obtained his master's degree in 1698. Price served in many town offices and was captain of a company of militia posted near Haverhill, Massachusetts, in 1708 during an attack by the French and Indians. He was eventually appointed provincial commissioner for Essex County.
