Arizona resident and manager of Mountain Bell

Lawson Smith was born in Washington, Georgia, and moved to Tucson, Arizona with his family in 1912. He attended school in Tucson, and following graduation from the University of Arizona, he went to work for Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company. He served Mountain Bell for 41 years, eventually becoming Arizona State Manager. After his retirement, Smith taught classes in management policy at the University of Arizona. He has served on the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Arizona, and was a member of the Arizona Academy.
