Buchanan, Ella Pierce.
Ella Rowena Pierce Buchanan (1921 - 2003) born in Idaho was a daughter of Herman W. Pierce and Louisa Brown Pierce, who were originally from Washington County, Tennessee.
Ella and her family moved to Jonesboro, Tennessee in the mid-1920s. She graduated from Lamar High School, where she later taught, and East Tennessee State University. Ella was a teacher in the schools of Washington County and Knox County, Tenn. (where she taught for many years at Oakwood Elementary School). She married George W. Buchanan on August 29, 1952. Upon her retirement from the Knox County schools, the Buchanans returned to live on the family farm in the Lamar community of Washington County.
