Order of Pythian Sisters. Grand Temple of Pythian Sisters of Colorado.

Hide Profile

The Pythian Sisters was the women's arm of the Knights of Pythias. Its function was, in the words of the 1893 Journal of Proceedings, to promote "the Moral, Mental, Social and Physical elevation of its members; cultivating a spirit of Fraternal Love which shall permeate and control their daily lives; ministering in all ways to the wants of the sick, distressed or needy...and daily exemplifying in every possible way the Golden Rule."

Maude E. Willis, the donor, was the daughter of Jacob and Mary Ullmer, who came to Boulder County in 1874. Willis, born in Warrenton, Missouri, on 13 September 1872, died in Boulder ca. 1960.
