Charles A. and Louis E. Lytle were brothers who both attended the Cascadilla School, a private preparatory school in Ithaca, entered Cornell University in 1892 and graduated with degrees in Mechanical Engineering in 1896. Charles won the Sibley Prize in Mechanic Arts in 1894, was married in 1906 and worked for the Petroleum Iron Works. Louis was elected to Sphinx Head, a senior honorary society, was married in 1898, and worked for the Westinghouse Air Brake Company.
