Adams, but the History of Yolo County, California (Thomas Jefferson Gregory, Los Angeles: Historic Record Co., 1913) cites him as an original stockholder in the Bank of Woodland. The president of this bank in Yolo County, incorporated in 1868, was Lawrence D. Stephens, the person to whom the letters are addressed. (pg. 205)
