Newcomb, Gideon Emerson, 1835-1899
Gideon Emerson Newcomb married Charlotte Eliza Walker in 1858; they lived in Nova Scotia and had five children (one died at birth); Charlotte died in 1868 and after her death Gideon took his family to Old Town, Me., where he worked as a homeopathic doctor and spiritualist; m. Agatha Galliatt but marriage not a happy one; turned to poetry for solace, writing many poems during the years.
