Ludlum upon the death of his father James; incorporated in 1898 with change in name to Ludlum Steel and Iron Company; controlling interest owned by Corning family of New York State by 1906 as the result of loans made to the company following a 1903 flood; operations shifted to a new factory in Watervliet, Albany County, New York in 1907; name changed to Ludlum Steel Company in 1915.
