Stephen Meader is a Quaker and graduate of Haverford College, 1913. After college he worked with the Children's Aid Society as a social worker, and soon took up writing stories for boys. His job with Curtis Publishing Company brought him in contact with the well-known author, Christopher Morley, another Haverford graduate who helped him, and several of his books were published. He later took a job in advertising at N.W. Ayer. He was married to Betty Hoyt and then Patience Ludlum.
