Angela R. Parisi

Angela R. Parisi, government official and lawyer, was born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 23, 1914, the daughter of Salvatore and Mary E. (Somma) Parisi. After attending St. Agnes Seminary, Brooklyn, and St. John's College (1933-1936), ARP received her law degree from Brooklyn Law School (1939). Admitted to the New York Bar in 1941, she practiced privately and taught at Marymount College and the adult education division of Brooklyn College. She also served as assistant corporation counsel for the City of New York (1946-1954). In 1955 Governor Averell Harriman appointed ARP chairman of the New York State Workmen's Compensation Board, a post she held until her death. She was a member of many political and social organizations and served as vice-chairman of the New York State Democratic Committee (1949-1955) and president of the Brooklyn Women's Bar Association (1956-1958). In private life ARP was married to Leo Louison (December 31, 1944) and had two sons: Neil David and James Phillip. She died on March 20, 1961.
