p. iii-iv. It appears he was born the 23d day of Tenth mo. 1739, of parents in membership with Friends, who removed (when he was an infant) and settled in the verge of Buckingham Monthly Meeting in this county [Bucks County, Pennsylvania].... About the 26th year of his age, he appeared in the ministry, and became an able minister of the gospel; for the promulgation of which he was concerned to visit the meetings on this continent, and many of them several times, his life and conversation corresponding with the gospel.... Having removed to the State of Ohio in the year 1810, and spent some time there in the service of Truth, his mind became easy to return, though in a weak state of health ; and proceeding on his journey as far as Waynesville, he departed this life on the 30th day of the Eighth mo. 1811, aged about 72 years.
