Sulzberger, Karen Alden

Karen Alden Sulzberger of Washington, daughter of Arthur Ochs Sulzberger of New York and Barbara Grant Johnson of Topeka, Kan., was married in Stamford, Conn., last evening to Eric Martin Arthur Lax of New York, son of Dorothy Lax of Lakeside, Calif., and the late Rev. John Martin Lax. The bride, who will retain her name, attended the Brearley School and was graduated from the George School in Newton, Pa., and Jackson College of Tufts University. She was, until recently, the program administrator of the inter-arts program at the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington. She had formerly been with the Freer Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution. Her father is chairman of The New York Times Company and publisher of The New York Times. Her mother is a communications specialist for the Topeka public schools.

The bride is a granddaughter also of the late Mr. Sulzberger, president and publisher of The New York Times from 1935 to 1961 and chairman until his death in 1968, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Grant of Purchase, N.Y.
