This is a photo of Lorena Hahn when she served as the U.S. Representative on the United Nations Status of Women Commission. She was selected by U.S. President Dwight David Eisenhower and took her seat in this position on March 16, 1953. Mrs. Hahn served in this post until at least 1960. Prior to this appointment, she was appointed by General Lucius Clay to serve as chief of Women's Affairs in Germany during the early months of the occupation by the United States. She also served on the board of the National Broadcasting Company (NBC), vice chairman of the Republican Post-War Planning Committee, sat on the board of the National Wildlife organization and served four years on the Nebraska Commission for Institutions. Mrs. Hahn served in many roles with the American Legion Auxiliary, including National President during the 1936-1937 administrative year. This photo was used in the November 1959 Auxiliary magazine.

This is a photo of National President Lorena Hahn (1936-1937) with her husband, Oscar W., taken in 1974. Mrs. Hahn was the first president of the American Legion Auxiliary from Nebraska. She served on many committees and in many offices at the unit, department and national levels of the organization. After her presidency, she served as vice chairman of the State Advisory Defense Commission in Nebraska during World War II, named by U.S. President Dwight David Eisenhowser to be the U.S. representative on the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, and chief of womens affairs for the Dept. of the U.S. Army in Berlin, Germany. She was presented the French Legion of Honor metal in the 1940s, Republican vice chairman of the Post War Policy Commission, and was a program advisor for the NBC Panel in New York City from 1933 to 1941. Mrs. Hahn passed away in April 1986.
