Bickley, William E. (William Elbert), 1914-2010
William E. Bickley; born 20 January 1914 in Knoxville, Tenn.; died 2 August 2010 in Annapolis. Zoologist, entomologist (specializing in mosquitoes), and professor of entomology at the University of Maryland. Received bachelor's degree in agriculture from University of Tennessee in 1934; later received master's and doctoral degrees from University of Maryland. During World War II, he worked to control malaria as a captain in the U.S. Public Health Service. Lived in Silver Spring.
