Wade, Henry H., 1894-1992

Henry Hopkins Wade was born June 13, 1894, in Hopkins, Minnesota (1). He earned his engineer of mines degree from the University of Minnesota in 1915 (2). Upon completing his degree, Wade became a metallurgist at the Mines Experiment Station (1915-1948). He became assistant director of the station in 1948 and director in 1951. He remained in this position until his retirement from the University of Minnesota in 1962. Henry Wade died September 22, 1992, at the age of 98 (1). He was known as an authority on iron ore beneficiation and taconite processing, and he developed the modern processing method of taconite ore that made the industry possible in Minnesota.
