World Woman's Party for Equal Rights.
With the franchise won, the Woman's Party was reorganized in 1921 as a permanent association to raise the status of women throughout the United States. In 1923 the Equal Rights Amendment was introduced in Congress and permanent headquarters were established on Capitol Hill in the Alva Belmont House, a gift of Mrs. Oliver H. P. Belmont.<p>

Recognizing that the struggle for the freedom of women is world-wide, the National Women's Party took the initiative in 1939 in organizing the World Woman's Party for Equal Rights, which until the outbreak of the war had headquarters at Geneva Switzerland.

In addition to serving as a world center for the movement to advance the position of women, Alva Belmont House provided the facilities of an international club house for women, including access to a unique feminist library
