Spartz, Victoria, 1978-
<p>Congresswoman Victoria Spartz immigrated to the United States in 2000 after meeting her husband Jason, a born and raised Hoosier, on a train in Europe. She became a US Citizen and worked her way up from being a bank teller to a CPA, finance executive, successful business owner, and Indiana State Senator.</p>
<p>Growing up in Ukraine molded her conservative political philosophy that limited government is always better, and financial and healthcare decisions should be made by individuals in the free market, not bureaucrats and special interests.</p>
<p>Rep. Spartz worked in the Big 4 public accounting firms for Fortune 500 companies, taught as an adjunct faculty member at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, and served as the CFO at the Indiana Attorney General’s Office. She also started several businesses in financial consulting, farming, and real estate.</p>

<p>Victoria Spartz (née Kulheyko (Ukrainian: Вікторія Кульгейко, romanized: Viktoriya Kul'heyko); born October 6, 1978) is a Ukrainian-American politician and businesswoman who is the U.S. Representative for Indiana's 5th congressional district. The district stretches from the northern fifth of Indianapolis to Marion and includes most of Indianapolis's northern suburbs. Spartz is the first Ukrainian-born member of the U.S. Congress and the first member born in a then-Soviet Republic. She previously represented the 20th district in the Indiana Senate.</p>
<p>Victoria Kulheyko was born in Nosivka, Chernihiv Oblast, Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, today Ukraine. Before moving to the United States, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Kyiv National Economic University. She also earned a Master of Accountancy from the Kelley School of Business of Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis.</p>
<p>While Kulheyko was in college, she met her future husband, Jason Spartz, on a train in Europe and began dating him. They married in 2000. Victoria Spartz immigrated to the United States in 2000 at the age of 22 and became a U.S. citizen in 2006.</p>
