<p>Rep. Carolyn Bourdeaux lives with her family in Suwanee, Georgia and represents Georgia's 7th Congressional District. In Congress, Carolyn is a strong advocate for affordable health care, an economic recovery that puts workers and small businesses first, investing in her district's world-class public education system, and developing improved transportation infrastructure to unlock economic opportunity.</p>

<p>Before her election to the U.S. House of Representatives, Carolyn taught as a professor of public management and policy at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University, and has served in a number of public service roles during her career.</p>

<p>During the Great Recession, Carolyn was the director of the Georgia Senate Budget and Evaluation Office, where she worked with both parties to balance Georgia’s budget and get the state economy back on track. In this role, Carolyn advocated for a number of policies to improve transparency and fiscal responsibility in the budget process, and was instrumental in developing legislation to track and account for all tax breaks, including corporate tax loopholes. At the end of her time with the Senate Budget Office, Carolyn was honored with a bipartisan special resolution for significant service to the state of Georgia.</p>

<p>Carolyn Jordan Bourdeaux (born June 3, 1970) is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative from Georgia's 7th congressional district since 2021. The district is based in Gwinnett County, an affluent suburban county northeast of Atlanta. A member of the Democratic Party, she was a professor at the Andrew Young School of Public Policy at Georgia State University from 2003 to 2021.

<p>In 2018, Bourdeaux ran for Georgia's 7th congressional district, coming within 433 votes of defeating the incumbent Republican, Rob Woodall, in what was the closest congressional race in that cycle. On February 7, 2019, Woodall announced he would retire at the end of his current term. That same day, Bourdeaux announced her intentions to once again seek the seat. She won her 2020 election against Republican Rich McCormick.</p>

<p>Bourdeaux is from Roanoke, Virginia. She graduated from Yale University with a bachelor's degree in history and economics. She earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California and a Doctor of Public Administration from Syracuse University in 2003.</p>
