Chen, May Ying, 1948-

May Chen (1948- ) is a labor organizer who has been actively engaged in outreach and advocacy for immigrant workers for over 20 years. Born and raised in Boston, MA, she worked as a high school teacher, wrote for the Asian-American publications <i>Gidra</i> and <i>Roots</i>, founded a day-care center that employed mainly immigrant women, and served as a local officer (Local 23-25) and International Vice President of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (later UNITE, UNITE/HERE, and Workers United).
