Shallenberger, George Ashmond, 1827-1902

<p>George A. Shallenberger was a merchant in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He entered the service in the civil war and became a lieutenant-colonel. The last twenty years of his life he was the superintendent of the reform school of the District of Columbia. He died in DC on July 4, 1902 at the age of 75 years. His brother, William Shadrach Shallenberger, served as second assistant postmaster general, and is buried next to him in Arlington National Cemetery.</p>
