George Augustus Polgreen Bridgetower 11 October 1778, Biała, Galicia – 29 February 1860, London, England; violinist; father, John Frederick Bridgetower, probably a West Indian servant of the Hungarian Prince Esterházy, other was German and a domestic servant; moved to London at an early age and was performing at the Drury Lane Theatre by the age of ten; King George IV took interest in Bridgetower and he studied under François-Hippolyte Barthélémon, Giovanni Giornovichi (Ivan Jarnovic), and Thomas Attwood; performed many concerets between 1789-1799; performed with Beethoven in Vienna in 1803; married Mary Leech Leeke in 1816; elected to Royal Society of Musicians; earned Bacheolor of Music, Trinity Hall, Cambridge, 1811
