Louis Brandeis born November 13, 1856, in Louisville, KY ; received his LL.B. from Harvard Law School in 1877 ; lawyer at Warren & Brandeis in Boston, 1879-1897 ; laywer at Brandeis, Dunbar & Nutter in Boston, 1897-1916 ; joined Zionist movement in 1912 ; sworn in as Supreme Court Associate Justice in 1916 ; died on October 5, 1941 in Washington, D.C.

Brandeis' parents emmigrated from Prague, Bohemia ; he developed the concept of right to privacy ; advocated for freedom of speech ; devoted to progressive causes around limiting power of corporations ; married Alice Goldmark in 1891 and had two daughters: Susan Brandeis Gilbert and Elizabeth Brandeis Rauschenbush.
