law and took up legal practice in Carlisle, in 1687.

Later the same year went to America with R. Gill, who
died in Phila. Travelled further among Friends and in
1704 helped plant Quakerism on Nantucket., Mass.

<p>1740 suffered the first of two strokes.

Correspondents include James Logan, Hannah Fishbourn, Thomas Chalkley, William Sewel, Griffith Owen, Joseph Pike, Isaac Norris, Hannah Penn, Caleb Pusey, and others. The tracts include "Reasons why ... Quakers challenged by George Keith" (1696), "Treason to Caesar discovered," and a printed pamphlet, FELO-DE-SE (1738). Also included is a copy of Thomas Story's will and a manuscript signed by F.D. Pastorius, "The Matter of Taxes ..."
