Hellman, Frances, 1853-
Frances Seligman Hellman was an American translator and philanthropist. Her father was a German immigrant who became a successful investment banker in New York, and she was educated in New York City and Germany. She married Theodore Hellman, a banker, and the union produced three children. She translated many works from French and German into English, and was a prominent member of many social and philanthropic organizations.
